ROLLER APPLICATION
Materials Required:
• Speckle Effects Walltones or Multispec Watercolors
• Speckle Effects Base-coat (SE1-White)
• 9" Speckle Effects Foam Roller Cover for Multicolor
• 9" Paint Roller cover for base-coat
• Foam corner roller for Multicolor
• Paint tray
• 3" Speckle Effects Trim Roller foam cover for Multicolor (optional).
Application:
Speckle Effects Walltones
First apply Speckle Effects Base-coat (SE-1 White). Let dry, then apply selected Walltone color
Multispec WaterColors
First apply Speckle Effects Base-coat tinted to the predominant fleck color of the Multispec WaterColors multicolor selected. If color selected is predominantly white, use Speckle Effects Base-coat SE-1 White untinted. Let base coat dry, then apply Multispec WaterColor.
For Uniform Coverage
Roll on multicolor with parallel alternating vertical strokes (top to bottom with bottom to top) loading roller fully between strokes. Each stroke should deposit a liberal amount of multicolor. Stop stroke when paint runs out. Spread on area comfortable to reach (3" x 3").
Then re-roll with parallel alternating horizontal strokes, without loading roller.
If necessary re-roll with alternating diagonal strokes, without loading roller, to help spread out the multicolor evenly and eliminate lap marks.
NOTE: Multicolor will be textured while wet and smooth after dry. After drying overnight, if overall appearance is not uniform, recoat and/or touch up using same application technique and tools.

Application Tips
• Dampen 9" Speckle Effects Foam Roller with water and squeeze well before use
• Protect areas not to be painted with Walltones or WaterColors
• Cut in first. Load Speckle Effects Foam Corner Roller fully with multicolor paint into corners and difficult to roll areas. Then immediately roll over these areas with 9" Speckle Effects Foam Roller as close as possible to the adjacent wall to spread out evenly
• Roll on Multicolor with slow smooth gentle strokes (fast strokes will cause paint to spatter)
• Too much pressure on roller or too much rolling may cause damage to color flecks or lift paint from surface
• Start rolling from painted to unpainted areas avoiding backrolling into partially dried areas
• Application strokes should be continuous in one direction and end by lifting roller while in motion
• Do not backroll once multicolor paint starts to dry or roller may lift paint from previously painted surface. If finish is uneven, reroll area the following day
• For application multicolor paint should be at room temperature and surface to be painted and air are between 60° to 90° at low humidity
SPRAY APPLICATION
Materials Required
• Speckle Effects Walltones/Multispec WaterColors
• Masking tape
• Drop Cloth
• H.V.L.P. or conventional air spray equipment

Spray Equipment
Use H.V.L.P. spray equipment such as Wagner Fine Coat. Ask dealer for spray equipment guidelines. It can also be applied with conventional air spray equipment or professional H.V.L.P. units.
For Uniform Application:
Spray multicolor first with horizontal strokes, overlapping each stroke by 50%. Then cross hatch with vertical strokes over the same area to eliminate lap marks.
Application Tips:
• Practice spraying multicolor before starting project
• When spraying: Until you achieve full coat coverage, the pattern and appearance will change after each spray stroke as more flecks are applied to surface. At 100% full coat coverage, the pattern/appearance will stop changing.
• Remove all filters and strainers from spray equipment.
• Do not spray in high humidity and/or when temperature of paint, surface and air are below 60° F. or above 90° F.
• For detailed spray equipment recommendations and application guidelines, see Multispec WaterColors label or Multispec Spray Equipment Specifications. Material will have a blue cast when first sprayed. Allow to dry thoroughly in order to approve color standard.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS ROLLER AND SPRAY APPLICATION
Mock up: Always do a test area first, applying multicolor paint with the equipment selected for the project and be certain that test area meets your approval. Approved test area should serve as the standard for your project.
Blending Multicolors: Mix two or more different multicolors together in clean empty container. Mix gently and thoroughly with paint paddle. Record blend ratio for future reference. See Speckle Effects Walltones Blending Chart for guidelines.

Clear Topcoating: In areas subject to repeated soiling such as kitchens, bathrooms or hallways, topcoat with Multispec MCT Clear Waterborne Acrylic Polyurethane. Topcoating will improve durability and stain resistance and facilitate surface cleaning. MCT is available in low sheen or gloss. Low sheen is normally recommended for most interior applications. Use a pad applicator or a fine pore foam roller, or H.V.L.P. spray equipment. Contact dealer or Multicolor Specialties, Inc. for details.
